From the Manufacturer This is a 1/288 scale Academy plastic model kit. Although the Space Shuttle can travel faster and further that any other aircraft ever built, it must depend on other means of transportation to get from one side of the USA to another. Because it must use large external booster rockets for it to take off, it can only be used for orbital/space flights. The Shuttle is the size of a medium jet airliner. NASA obtained a specially built Boeing 747 airliner from American Airlines, capable of carrying the Shuttle in a special cradle on top of 747's fuselage. This kit contains the Shuttle and the 747 configured for flight. Both aircraft contain fully engraved panel lines, landing gear and engine detail, a beautiful decal sheet, paint details and a display stand.
